DID MAGNUM SALES DRIVE RFM STOCK PRICE?

RFM Foods Corporation, the company behind several household brands like Selecta, Fiesta, Swift, and Sunkist, brought in the premium ice cream brand Magnum (together with Uniliever) around 2 months ago. The perception is that Magnum is selling out fast and this is very evident when you try buying one from 7-11 or Ministop. Most of the time they’re out of stock. We can’t say for sure though how much Magnum is contributing to RFM’s bottom line but we can say that it probably is helping the surge of the company’s stock price. They started with Php1.20 per share in January this year and they just hit Php2.07 last April 3.
Chart from PSE website:

Magnum was powered by a very aggressive marketing and branding campaign which culminated in the brand launch in March. As a result the brand has been getting a lot of mentions on social media sites like Twitter.
It will be interesting to see how the stock performs this summer.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RFM Foods Corporation has a very effective marketing strategy that enabled magnum sales to be at boom level. It made a good start that serves as an impression to the people. It was showed in the graph how the sales rose up in a short period of time. Their are outside factors like social websites that affected the popularity of the product. This is good for the company because it is free and yet their product is being advertised. If this will continue, the value of their stock price will continue to rise.
On the other hand, the Company failed to supply the demand of the people. Evident enough to any store that sells the said product. When people can't get what they wan't, it can damage the products reputation.  The time that you see ads on tv or posts on the internet, it can give you excitement and then knowing that it is out of stock, it will lead to frustration.
The company can avoid this by producing more products.  If the company is able to produce enough supplies, they might have a higher stock price compared to the present. RFM Foods Corporation had already made magnum wanted by the people, they should now focus on producing enough supplies to maximize its potential outcome.

Filipino detainees get IT training

Manila (Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN) - Some 200 detainees at the Metro Manila District Jail (MMDJ) in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City, will become the first batch to receive free training in information technology through "BILIB IT" (Believe in IT), a joint project of Informatics College, one of the country's leading information-technology schools, and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.
Under the project, Cayetano and Informatics will build a training center inside the MMDJ that would have 10 computers for training detainees.
Batches of inmates, selected in coordination with jail officials and with security considerations, will undergo training in basic computer literacy and computer hardware servicing at least three hours a day, Informatics CEO Leo Riingen said during a news conference held yesterday at Informatics College at Eastwood City commercial center in Quezon City.
"Our jails have never been a venue for rehabilitation. As we know, it's a country club for the rich, but for the poor, it becomes punishment for the families of detainees," Cayetano said. "So we want to do some good."
A second chance
Cayetano, a former representative of Taguig City in Congress, has been visiting the MMDJ regularly since the early 1990s and has been advocating for reforms in jails. The district jail, located inside the regional police headquarters in Camp Bagong Diwa, houses detainees still on trial for various crimes.
"Why not give training to Filipinos who need a second chance? These people are everywhere. In Cebu, [detainees] actually dance. In Muntinlupa City, they do artwork and handicrafts. In Quezon City, they are trained to play basketball," Riingen said.
"So why don't we help inmates rejoin society by training them in IT?," he said.
Riingen noted that computer literacy could help detainees once they return home and start life anew.
The organizers said they would carry out the project in strict coordination with jail officials to ensure that it would not compromise security.
"We are working out [a] program [that won't turn them into] cyber criminals," Cayetano said. "Of course, we would also like to do this project outside the jail or else being in jail might become an incentive," he added in jest.
No access to Internet
Cayetano said the training center would be fitted with security cameras and would be supervised by jail security at all times.
As an additional security measure, the computers will have no access to the Internet, Riingen said.
"We are hoping that inmates will practice self-regulation," Cayetano said. "I'm hoping that no one will do something wrong or create a security risk so we can continue with the program [and they will be productive when they leave jail]."
Graduate after 2 months
The program will start sometime in May and the first batch will graduate after two months, Riingen said.
Informatics gives free training to barangay officials as part of its information technololgy advocacy. It also runs a scholarship program.
About 400 scholars, including some who received support from Cayetano, graduated in ceremonies held on the Informatics Eastwood campus on Wednesday.

I feel happy about this article, of course it will be a good opportunity for those detainees who will be part of this training. The skills that they will learn is a big help not only for every inmates themselves but for the economy, I can say it because they'd already given this second chance so in my own perspective those detainees who will undergo this training will use their skill they will be learning in a future job that suits them if  someday, somehow they can leave the jail.Good initiative and program. Politicians should always find ways to improve all the sectors of our society especially the poor and improvised ones.

The negative side of it is another funds will have to spend, and as we all know those who were being imprisoned can hardly find and take a job after all. Instead of having this program, why not just give more attention to those out of school youth that might probably in a future will lead us to a better economy.
